What makes me different from other family photographers? I will tell you I am not your Hero… You are! I am just the Guide to help you show off who you are; The Hero in your own life! A session should reflect the story in which you are the main character in. As a family photographer on St Simons Island, I want to give you that!
Photographer’s Many Roles
As a mom of 2 little girls, wife to a busy hubby with fast pace hobbies, and a entrepreneur of multiple companies….I have limited space on my calendar. Needless to say, each family I am working with are special. As one of the families, you might only see a small portion of the care I put towards your client experience. Let me share more of it though.
What does a photographer do? Like I said, I guide you! Before that initial talk happens, I have already worn multiple hats to be prepared for you! Social media marketing, up to date blog posts, email list updates, currently portfolio, website design & maintenance, create a welcoming experience the moment you land on my page, reply to emails (do not forget text messages, Ig & Facebook DMs, and website inquiries) in a timely manner, continuous education on current trends, purchase & maintain expensive equipment for better final images… It is endless.
Photography Client Experience
Then we finally talk and perhaps book a session together. (At this point, we have clicked & figured out I am the right photographer to capture YOUR story) Now comes the part you personally experience. I help guide you with different location options, style guides, session tips. All of which is BEFORE YOUR SESSION!
During the session, it is my job to help you feel relaxed and enjoy the moment for more authentic images. I help guide with pose prompts (All of which is games, movements, actions and a real candid feel), adjust to the lighting, set the camera settings to properly expose the image before the editing, and hold a conversation at the same time. hahaha They say multi tasking can not be efficiently done haha (This is me laughing at those people). These experts are clearly are not a photographer.
After the session, we spend an ENORMOUS amount of time editing to make sure its perfect. Do we miss things, sure we do! Sometimes images run together when you spend too much time editing in one day. That is why we have to space things out. During that time, I keep you updated, send sneak peeks and more. Then I start it all over again…That is a gigantic investment into each person who trusts me to be their family photographer on St Simons Island.
Photographer as your Guide
As you can see, there are ALOT of hats I wear. None of which, I ever claim to be your hero photographer. I am just the guide that helps the Hero! Sounds weird, I know…A photographer just takes pictures. No biggie…but a photographer can come into your life at a very sensitive moment without you realizing. A senior graduating and those photos are more emotional that you believe. A mother welcoming a new baby, a strong person fighting for their life in a cancer survivor session, parents saying goodbye to a child, a business owner stressed about branding… All of which are highly emotional situations that a photographer needs to be ready to step into if needed.
Photography is more just knowing a camera and taking a pretty photo. It is like handing a piece of myself over to that person and saying “I see you”.
