To say I was a “green thumb” before the studio would be a complete and utter lie. So let’s instead say, I was a fake plant enthusiast with the desire to try out the real stuff. I mean, if I could keep a fake plant clean from dust, surely I can keep a real one alive. RIGHT?! Hahaha through much trial and error, the succulent Mini sessions in Kingsland Georgia were actually full of REAL plants!

Why Succulent Minis?

How did I get this idea for Succulent minis? Well, it all started with a picture on social media. No idea where it came from or where I saw it. It just caught my eye. The next week, The Makery on Lee announces their succulent bar… kismet right? Took it as a sign to collaborate together. Hence Succulent minis instead of Garden or Greenhouse theme. Thanks to Angie, owner of the Makery on Lee, each session came with a free succulent plant that the kids could pot themselves and take home. Hopefully with much more success than myself starting out.

Hard learning lessons about Succulents:

They truly do not like you when there is too much water. Tend to just fall apart…

The prettier the succulent is, the higher chance of me killing them

Succulents that are more like Aloe plants are MORE my speed. They don’t catch an attitude it I don’t water them JUST RIGHT or give them the perfect amount of sun…

If you buy plants from Lowe’s, do it right when a new shipment of plants come in and not if they have been sitting there for a while

Just accept that they will die, then you are really happy when they don’t (very surprised too)
