As expected, everything changes when you become a parent. However, 3 years into my mom-boss adventure, there were “modifications” I made that were surprising without even realizing it. All it took for me to recognize these modifications, were watching these families come for the Clothesline Mini Session in Kingsland Georgia.

The Photographer before the Camera

In order to recognize these “modifications”, you have to know the person before babies. I LOVED creating “stories”. What I mean by that is I searched for moments that I knew would turn into good stories. Here are a couple of memories (Dumb, but You will get the idea):

• Mudding while standing in the bed of the truck with your palms on the roof of the truck
• Tubbing at night with glow sticks on our swimsuits so the boat did not run us over (YES, It was stupid and I was naïve enough to not know that lakes had curfews for boats)

You get it now… I loved adrenaline activities and not taking a “typical” road (college, work, get married, have kids, stay at home with the kids, etc) that is expected of young women. However, once I had my oldest daughter, Tori, a switch was flipped without me even thinking about it. I, all of a sudden, understand why millions of women chose to travel this road…Because it truly is God’s gift to be a mother!

I knew I would change, but I did not realize how what I valued before seems so insignificant now. My idea of an “adventure” now is watching my girls experience things for the first time. To see the wonder through them when they view the world.

Mini Sessions are Adventures

Let’s skip ahead to today! As a Family photographer that offers themed mini sessions, I realized that I don’t need the adventure… I can provide the adventure for other families. How many kids can say they danced in between sheets blowing in the wind? Then have the moment frozen forever in the images?

The Clothesline Mini session in Kingsland Georgia may have only been 10 minutes for each family, but it was a small experience they will remember. They came to a new place, allowed to be a little crazy, and even got a lollipop at the end (Ok not everyone, but the kids that needed a little bribing haha). Sounds like a pretty good memory in the making!
