Why Prints are so important!

How many pictures do you have around your house? A few I am sure. Now how many do you have on your computer? That’s what I thought, A LOT! We live in a society ruled by social media. With the continuous improvements of smart phone cameras, we are taking more pictures than ever! Most of them are uploaded to our computer or Facebook Page, but forgotten over time. After that, only a minimum of those pictures will actually make it to an image you can hold in your hands – Canvas, albums, or even Prints.

Your digital photos on your computer are just another form of temporary storage. Stay with me on this for a minute! Yes, you can access them anytime, but will you? Or will you think of that memory but make a mental note to look late…and not actually look? If you wont take the time to look them up in the moment, then your social media account is acting as storage!

There is no longer a need to print every photo from a negative, but Prints are still important! So it stands to reason, that the pictures we decide to print should be the best quality possible. Thanks for advancing technology, the Prints turn out to be stunning. Today’s digital cameras (I am a SONY Gal if you are a new photographer considering what camera to start with!) and Printers bring the color you see everyday to a more vivid memory on your prints!

Why are Prints more important than ever?

Lets start with what happens when you only have digital photos and no prints! Personally, the funny moments that you have experience dull and you begin to rely on your memory to keep them alive. Let’s go beyond yourself though. What about your children? Their world is seen from a different Point of View and their memory is limited. Prints help remind them of what their grandparents look like, their favorite toy when they were a newborn, or even the father/daughter dance they went to years ago (That last one hits home for me and I would have never remembered the details without the prints my mom gave me!)

When you only have digital photos, there is a sense of disconnect. Prints can bring your memories to life and provide a sense of belonging for children in their home. When you become a parent who prints photos, it gives your children a security that their parents are proud of them because it is displayed so opening throughout the home. Lets do some straight talk and get to the point.

Why should you print your photos?

1. Adds longevity to a memory you can HOLD

A printed photo can be considered a family heirloom that shows future generations what their relatives looked like. The ability to hold the memory in your hands adds to the sensory experience. It becomes a physical reminder and not just a picture you are looking at on the screen.

2.Brings Family together through shared experiences and emotions

A picture goes beyond that one single moment captured. It can bring back the whole vacation the family experienced together and emotions that were evoked during that time. So why hide that gem in your social media archives instead of printing it

3. Reminds us of what is important

Life is fast paced and it is easy to forget what is priority! Your picture frames around your house can help you remember that is all about the people in your life.

Part of the reason I became a photographer was to not only capture special moment but to make sure they are REMEMBERED! Our memories and experiences shape who we are in the future. Make sure you invest in your memories than help you for your future.
