It is always rewarding to capture and share people’s stories through photography. It’s particularly sweeter when it a close friend that I have actually seen the story unfold! This one begins with a baby announcement in Brunswick Georgia for Tiffany and Marty!

I met Tiffany in early 2020 when I drove to introduce myself to a new wedding venue here, Cedar Lodge on Honey Creek. Tiffany, the director of the venue, and I hit it off right away! Since then we have been having regular lunches and hangouts to ensure we keep up with our constantly busy lives!

At one of our first lunches, I was so honored when Tiffany confided in me about their upcoming IVF appointments to try to have a baby! After many months of sending prayers their way, Tiffany finally texted me she was pregnant! (She tried to wait until we met for lunch… that didn’t work haha)

Our Adventure with IVF

Tiffany & Marty’s story is beautiful. Read it below in Tiffany’s own words:

When I was14 I had an emergency partial hysterectomy. I knew it would be difficult to get pregnant when I was ready to have children. My husband, Marty, and I started our journey 4 years ago together when we stopped birth control. In 2020, we realized Marty was diagnosed with low motility sperm and low sperm count. Since then, we went through two IUI (artificial insemination) and both were unsuccessful.

After sometime, We started our IVF process in June 2021. It is an emotional and difficult process, but with the support of my husband, it was easier. Marty walked every step with me. From preparing the medicine & cleaning needles to gently inserting almost every shot, Marty was there! Even gave up all alcohol with me during the process! (Yup, Marty is officially amazing!!)

This was not only a physical journey, but a spiritual one for us as well. With each needle Marty and I would embrace each other and pray for God’s will. Towards the end of the shots, we began to include our family and best friends into our prayer process. We would call them each night when we completed shots and have them say a prayer for us, our potential baby, and to provide strength through the process.

The next step was Egg retrieval, which occurred on July 10th. At which time, we got 12 viable eggs from my single ovary! Out of the 12, 3 fertilized and matured. On July 16th, we implanted one.

We had an appointment set for July 26th to have a blood draw to find out about the pregnancy. At this point all we can do it wait and pray. On July 24th, I woke up and felt an overwhelming sensation that the implanting process had failed. I asked God to show a sign of peace and I tried to push the negative thoughts aside. 

The morning of July 26th, the blood draw, it stormed all the way to Savannah. After my blood draw, we walked outside and felt as if a sign was waiting for us. We saw the most amazing rainbow and just knew God was taking care of us. 

Later that same day at 10:30am, The doctor called while we were out with Marty’s mom & told me the amazing news. We were PREGNANT!!!! It was an answer to our prayers!

I could not wait a second to tell Marty! So I did what any normal wife would do….I followed Marty into the Men’s bathroom when he was going and told him the news! In my defense, I wanted him to know before any of our family did!

We are due on April 4, 2022 with our miracle baby! ” Fast forward to today and celebrating the 1 step of the journey with a baby announcement in Brunswick Georgia.

Is the not incredible?! Beside the point that Tiffany handled her shots like a bad*** but Marty add to the new definition of a Rockstar hubby, these two turned to God for comfort during a difficult 4 years. I have only had the privilege of knowing Tiffany and Marty for a short time, but I don’t think I have met 2 people that were ready to face their future together no matter the outcome. Their grace in life is beautiful and something we should all strive for!
