Congratulations to the newly engagement couple, Luke & Ashton!!! Their Engagement at Driftwood Beach will change the way I look at that location forever.
I have been a part of so many weddings but there is something completely nerve-wrecking about being a part of a surprise engagement! The weeks leading up to the big moment and many conversations going over the details to ensure I capture it correctly… soo much anticipation! Then to watch Luke’s face as he prepares the proposal speech in his head, is something you do not soon forget. You can almost hear his thoughts, feel his excitement, and the see the love written on his face. Let me start from the beginning of how we got there though!
Prepping for the Driftwood Beach Engagement
Back in May, I received an email from Rose, Ashton’s sister, asking if I was available for this special occasion! Rose was helping Luke put the details together to make sure the engagement is everything that moment should be. It takes a strong man to say, please help plan so the moment is just right for his future wife! What you need to know is, Luke & Ashton met in college. Since then, Jekyll island became “their” place. The home away from home that they continuously visited and de-stressed them. So naturally, the engagement was planned to take place at Driftwood Beach.
At 6:45am the morning of, I was crouched behind a fallen driftwood with the camera ready. Both sides of the family were hidden in the sand dunes waiting for Ashton to come. Luke and Avery (Their fur baby) stood waiting on a family quilt by the water. When Ashton came around the corner, Avery darted to his mom wearing a bandana that said “Mom, Dad has a question for you.” (Yup, I swooned at this point). At this moment, She KNEW! Luke got on one knew, and through tear filled eyes, I captured the special moment they will never forget.
Engagement at Jekyll Island Georgia
Luke & Ashton were absolutely adorable! Here I was a complete stranger to Ashton and she embraced me in a hug without even knowing my name because of how excited she was! As of now, there are no plans for the wedding and there shouldn’t be! This is the window to enjoy the engagement and take the time to bask in each other. However, I know it is going to be magnificent. They could get married in potato sacks and it would still be a moment filled with pure unfiltered Love.
Take a sneak peek in to the surprise engagement at Driftwood beach and walk through every moment with them.
