There are no words to describe the up and down roller coaster that a military family must endure in the line duty. Of course, there is the obvious obligation. The military member who signed up to serve their country, sacrifice family time (missing birthdays, seeing their children grow up in between deployments), wake up at exceptionally early hours for PT (physical training), and maybe even accept a commanding officer yelling in their face trying to teach them a lesson that seems impossible. It is simple moments like this Family Photography at St Simons Island that reminds me how important it is for these families to capture pictures while they can.

Then there is the Military member’s family. Back in day, no one recognized the hardship they undergo in support of the service member. Of course today, those endless battles a military spouse & children experience are more acknowledged. There are countless resources available for these families… but that does not make it easier.

I am sure you can guess by now, I grew up in a military family. Doesn’t matter what branch you are in, it is still a tough but rewarding life if you let it be. The Mandella’s found me on the Facebook military spouse page for the local base – Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay – when another family that was kind enough to share! I am so glad Sheri reached out to book a family photography session at East Beach in St Simons Island.

This family was hands down Freaking ADORABLE!! Brandon & Sheri had that love glow that you can not fake. While their daughters, Lillian and Alexis, were completely open to the goofiness that is Calli Kennedy haha. Did I mention that they have not been in front of a Professional Photographer since the girls were babies?!? Yup, they were not pros! They trusted me to guide them through the session and relaxed because they knew they were in great hands (Not to toot my own horn or anything!).
